Resist The Devil And He Will Flee

"Submit yourselves therefore to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you."  James 4:7

Resist.

Offensive lineman perceive the attack of the defense and they resist.

They push back.

They work together to ward off attack.

They are alert.

Off the field, they prepare themselves to be effective.

Imagine how ineffective an offensive line would be if it was composed of only one man.

A coach would never tell his team to go out on the field with only a one man offensive line to ward off the attack of the opposing team.  Yet in our personal lives, we often try to fight temptation and spiritual battles alone.

When you feel that you don't have the strength to hold off temptation or spiritual attack, you need to ask for help.  You need a team.  Don't "go it alone."  Resist WITH someone else by your side.  Make a phone call.  Ask a friend or a mentor to come over.  Be aggressive when you perceive spiritual attack.  Don't just sit back passively and let yourself be defeated.

As you call out for help...as you resist...you'll notice increased patterns of victory over the enemy.  God offers you this promise:

Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
